Spring has sprung!!

Wow - where does the time go? It's been over a year since I last took to this blog and now it's spring already in the North Channel! There hasn't been a spec of snow for weeks and most of the channel is free of ice (about a month early). We have placed wagers to guess when the ice will leave Gore Bay and I'm banking on April 8th. With the warm temperatures on the forecast and rain coming - I think we'll be ice free sooner... Looking forward to getting back to working on boats & preparing for our upcoming charter season. Happy Spring and happy boating!

Crisp autumn air...

The first days of October and we still have boats out sailing! A great time of the year to catch some nice winds and have the usually busy anchorages all to yourself! The sun is warm but cozy sweaters are a must now on the water. I haven't seen such nice fall colours in awhile - the trees are all decked out in reds, golds and orange hues reflecting on the water here. Somebody break out the apple cider and let's go boating! The fleet is slowly being 'put to bed' for the winter as the guys in the boat yard prepare each boat. By November they'll all be tucked away 'on the hard' until launch time in April. Happy Canadian Thanksgiving this October 12th...

Another beautiful day in the North Channel...

September is a great month for boating here in the North Channel! It's quiet now but the sunshine was warm today and the water is still nice for swimming. Several of our yachts left this morning for a week of adventure on Lake Huron. Our brand new 50 ft Jeanneau sailboat arrived today and she's a real head turner. The salmon are biting and the leaves are just beginning to turn into their red, gold and orange hues.
